The Tunisian Company for Refining Industries STIR was founded in 1961 following an agreement between the Tunisian Government and the Italian Group ENI. Its social purpose is the refining of crude oil in order to satisfy the needs of the national market in terms of oil products.

Click here for site panoramic Since its Tunisification in 1975, STIR has become a public firm responsible for covering the country needs in oil products. Within this framework and in 1999, STIR was entrusted with the import of all sorts of fuel.

In 2001, the needs of the local market which reached 3.8 million tons were covered by STIR in production and import. Stir’s turnover has for the first time exceeded 1 billion dinars and allowed it to be rated, by “L’ECONOMISTE MAGHREBIN” and “ECONOMIA” magazines at the first rank of Tunisian firms.
